When your AI messages run out (both your monthly plan allowance and pack credits), the bot pauses automatically and Trochai notifies you so you can take action.
What happens when messages run out
When both your monthly allowance and pack balance reach zero:
- The bot pauses -- It stops replying automatically to WhatsApp contacts
- Automatic escalation -- Incoming messages are escalated directly to a human agent. The bot sends a message to the contact indicating that an agent will assist them
- Alert banner -- A persistent banner appears at the top of the application indicating that credits are exhausted
- Notification -- All organization admins receive a notification in the notification bell
- No additional charges -- No automatic purchases are made
Proactive alerts
Trochai warns you before you run out of messages so you can take preventive action:
80% usage alert
When you have consumed 80% of your monthly allowance:
- You receive a notification in the notification bell
- If you have no pack credits, a blue banner appears suggesting you purchase a pack
100% usage alert
When you have consumed 100% of your monthly allowance:
- You receive an additional notification
- If you still have pack credits, the bot continues using those credits
- If you have no pack credits, the bot pauses and the amber banner appears
Banner states

The banner can be dismissed during the current session, but will reappear on the next visit if the situation has not changed.
How to reactivate the bot
The bot reactivates automatically when you have messages available again. There are two ways:
Purchase a credit pack
- Click the button on the banner or go to Settings > Billing
- Select a credit pack and complete the purchase
- Credits are added immediately and the bot reactivates
Wait for the next billing cycle
At the start of your next billing cycle, your monthly allowance resets automatically and the bot resumes operation.
When the bot reactivates (whether from a pack purchase or a new billing cycle), it returns to the state it was in before the pause. If you had it enabled, it re-enables automatically. No additional action is needed.
Bot status
The bot toggle in Settings > Bot reflects your credit status:

FAQ
Are there automatic charges when messages run out?
No. Trochai does not make automatic charges. When messages run out, the bot pauses and you decide when to purchase more credits.
Can I still send manual messages when the bot is paused?
Yes. The pause only affects the bot's automatic replies. You and your agents can continue sending messages manually from the inbox without restriction.
Are alerts sent only to admins?
Yes. Credit notifications are sent only to users with the admin role in the organization.
Is the banner visible to all users?
Yes. The alert banner is visible to all organization members, but only admins can take action (purchase packs).
