Billing

Overview of Trochai's billing model, available plans, and how to manage your subscription.

Billing

Trochai uses a subscription + usage billing model, securely processed through our payment provider. You choose a plan that includes a number of seats, monthly AI messages, and features. If you need more messages, you can purchase prepaid credit packs at any time.

How it works

Your Trochai subscription has three main components:

  1. Monthly or annual plan -- Defines your base price, number of seats, included AI messages, and available features. See Plans for the full comparison.
  2. Included AI messages -- Each plan includes a set number of AI messages per month. These reset at the start of each billing cycle.
  3. Credit packs (optional) -- Prepaid credits that never expire. They are automatically consumed when your monthly messages run out. See Credit Packs.

What is an AI message

An AI message equals one bot reply to a WhatsApp contact. Thanks to the message batching system, if a contact sends multiple messages in quick succession (e.g., "Hi", "looking for a house", "in Escazu"), the bot waits until they finish typing and replies once. That counts as a single AI message.

Messages that you or your agents send manually from the inbox do not count as AI messages. Only automatic bot replies are counted.

Where to manage your billing

All billing management is located in Settings > Billing. From there you can:

  • View your current plan and subscription status
  • Monitor your AI message balance (monthly + packs)
  • Change plans (upgrade or downgrade)
  • Purchase credit packs
  • View daily usage history
  • Download invoices as PDFs
  • Access the billing portal to manage your payment method

Secure payments

All payments are processed securely through our payment provider. Trochai never stores your credit card details directly.

When you make a payment or change plans, a secure checkout window will open to complete the transaction.

Message consumption order

When the bot replies to a contact, messages are consumed in this order:

  1. Monthly included messages -- Used first. These reset at the start of each billing cycle.
  2. Pack balance -- Once monthly messages are exhausted, credits are drawn from purchased packs.
  3. No balance -- If both are depleted, the bot pauses automatically and you receive alerts. See Credit Alerts.

Unused monthly messages do not roll over to the next period. Only purchased pack credits persist indefinitely.

Billing period

Your billing period is tied to the date you activated your subscription, not the calendar month. For example, if you subscribed on March 15, your period runs from March 15 to April 14, and your monthly allowance resets on the 15th of each month.
